Heat TreatmentHigh-temperature heat treatment (1600-1800°C) is very common and intensifies the pink color while improving clarity by dissolving certain inclusions. This treatment is permanent, stable, and generally accepted in the market. The majority of available Vivid Hot Pink sapphires have been heated. Treatment must be mentioned on the certificate.
Untreated (Natural)Untreated Vivid Hot Pink sapphires are extremely rare and represent less than 5% of the market. They naturally achieve their intense color without human intervention. These stones command significantly higher prices (up to 3-5 times more) and must be accompanied by a prestigious laboratory certificate (GIA, GRS, SSEF, Gübelin) attesting to their unheated status.
Beryllium DiffusionLess common treatment involving diffusing beryllium into the sapphire structure to modify or intensify color. This treatment is considered invasive as it alters the stone's chemical composition on the surface. It must be disclosed and significantly impacts value (70-90% reduction compared to an untreated sapphire of similar quality).
