Kunzite: The Evening Stone

Kunzite displays strong pleochroism, showing pink from one angle and nearly colorless from another. The finest specimens come from Afghanistan, Brazil, and Madagascar. Sometimes called the "evening stone" because its color can fade with prolonged sun exposure.

Choosing Kunzite

Look for deep, saturated pink-violet with good saturation. Larger stones (over 5 carats) show the best color. 6.5-7 Mohs hardness. Best suited for pendants, earrings, and evening jewelry.
