Peridot is the gem variety of olivine, colored by iron. Unlike most gems, peridot is idiochromatic,its color is inherent to the mineral, not from trace elements. The finest peridots come from Myanmar, Pakistan (Kashmir), and Arizona. Some rare specimens come from pallasite meteorites.
