Submit a requestAquamarine gets its blue from iron traces within beryl crystal. The finest specimens come from Brazil (Minas Gerais), Pakistan, and Madagascar. Unlike emerald, aquamarine typically forms with excellent clarity, making large clean stones readily available.
The most valued aquamarines show a medium to medium-dark blue without green overtones. Stones over 5 carats with saturated color command premium prices. 7.5-8 Mohs hardness makes it excellent for all jewelry types.
